Bad Twin Gary Troup
EXCERPT:
Bad Twin is a work of fiction and all names, characters and incidents are used fictitiously; the author himself is a fictional character.

About the Author
Bad Twin is the highly-anticipated new novel by acclaimed mystery writer Gary Troup. Bad Twin was delivered to Hyperion just days before Troup boarded Oceanic Flight 815, which was lost in flight from Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles in September 2004. He remains missing and is presumed dead.

Gary Troup is an anagram for purgatory.

The only reference I could find for a flight 815 was the following.

Cambodians Return Looted Flight Recorder
Published: September 6, 1997

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia, Sept. 5— Heeding an appeal broadcast on radio and television, farmers returned a looted flight recorder today to investigators of the crash on Wednesday of a Vietnam Airlines jet.

Aviation officials said recovery of the flight recorder could prove essential to learning the cause of the crash, in which 65 people died. The device was plundered by villagers, hundreds of whom went through the pockets of victims and made off with scrap metal from the wreckage.

Repatriation of the bodies, most of them from Taiwan and South Korea, is to start on Saturday. The only known survivors were a Vietnamese boy and a Thai toddler.

A family living near the crash site, a stretch of rice paddies about a half-mile south of Pochentong International Airport, recovered the black box and brought it to a television station. The farmers claimed a $200 reward.
